The Director of Human Resources will be a key member of the executive management team responsible for a successful hotel opening, as well as achieving ongoing daily, short and long-term business goals and objectives. The Director of Human Resources must be a highly professional, well-organized, proactive and strategic leader with the ability to build an exceptional team. The ideal candidate should have significant HR management experience in the hotel and/or food service and/or hospitality industry, as well as experience in supporting the needs of a large employee population within a casino, resort or large hotel property, convention center or similar venue, with respect to: Supporting the operations management team by aligning HR processes with business needs and objectives; Managing the day-to-day administration of HR department / functional areas: recruiting, selection, hiring, on-boarding, training and development, risk management and safety, employee relations, performance management programs, file and data management, policy implementation; Serving as a strategic resource to the executive management team, department heads, managers and staff regarding employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, employment actions, and organizational effectiveness; Maintaining a highly professional, visible, responsive and accessible management presence on property. Assuring professional, ethical, responsive interaction with guests, employees, client team, corporate office, vendors, etc.; Overseeing and ensuring rigorous compliance with federal and state employment laws, gaming licensing requirements, tribal employment rights ordinances, company policies and procedures. In addition to requisite KSAs, the following will be given consideration in the selection process: Preference will be given to a candidate who (1) is a Shoshone-Bannock Community member, or (2) other Native American affiliation; or (3) an individual has a working knowledge and appreciation of Native American culture in the workplace; Ability to understand and meet the needs of a diverse work force with respect to work environment, career development, training and mentorship programs, economic growth opportunities, policy implementation and compliance, grievance resolution and recourse, management interaction and support expectations; Successful experience in developing a highly-functional, competent and engaged HR team; Gaming/casino (especially Native American casino) HR experience providing a high level of effective operational support to multiple departments; Understanding of the specialized needs, compliance requirements and challenges of providing HR support to various foodservice functional areas; Solid working knowledge of all aspects of regulatory compliance, applicable employment law; Excellent verbal and written communicator, presenter, trainer, mentor, motivator; Highly-organized, strategic planner and systemic thinker in effectively implementing, executing, managing and monitoring administrative processes; Successful track record of strong leadership, team development, best practice decision-making, making proactive and creative suggestions for building a harmonious, highly-effective work environment, ability to thrive in a politically diverse and complex professional work environment, strong commitment to employee advocacy; Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a gaming license, as required by business necessity.
