Mercy Medical Center in downtown, Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking a full-time, day shift, Employee Relations Specialist to assist employees and managers with questions regarding policies, practices and procedures; manage unemployment compensation; coordinate workers's compensation, and other programs as needed. Duties include: conducting internal investigations involving employee complaints and disciplinary matters, as well as mentoring and counseling, and make recommendations to management re: solutions; meeting with employees for permance improvement plans for absenteeism, tardiness, and other issues; maintaining disciplinary database to record all written warnings and suspensions; serving as contact person for Employee Health for matters related to, but not limited to, fitness for duty examinations, employment physicals, work-related injuries and return-to-work issues; assisting with creating presentations and training for staff and managers on HR policies, applicable laws and regulations; teaching HR policies and procedures at monthly new management orientation; attending worker's compensation, unemployment and EEO hearings representing the Hospital; serving as back up for Employee Relations Director; and other duties as assigned.EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE: Must possess Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Human Relations, or related field. Must possess 3-5 years of employee relations experience, healthcare experience preferred. PHR certification preferred.
