GENERAL SUMMARY: Coordinates staffing and scheduling systems for inpatient and other departments as appropriate, Monday through Friday. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/COMPETENCIES Facilitates the daily staffing process for the inpatient care areas (PICU, NICU, Med-Surg, House Supervisors). Prepares and distributes accurate daily staffing sheets for individual units and house supervisors. Collaborates with supervisors and managers to ensure staffing needs are met through contacting appropriate staff to fill in needs. Coordinates consistency between inpatient units, supervisors, managers, and director regarding daily staffing practices related to calling in staff, canceling staff, floating staff, and moving staff to another shift. Communicates to managers/director as appropriate regarding daily staffing processes to meet patient care needs including the forecast for the current week. Maintains an accurate, master computerized scheduling staffing system for PICU, ICU Group, NICU, Med-Surg, Emergency Department, and Nursing Administration as directed by the departmental managers/director. Works with department manager/director to generate accurate preliminary schedules/master plan and processes changes to create a final, accurate staffing schedule/master for the department based off budgeted/ forecasted patient needs. Analyzes schedules/master to facilitate compliance to staffing policies/practices and unit staffing guidelines and communicates variances to department manager and inpatient director as appropriate. Maintains computerized staffing data for all inpatient units. Enters accurate information from past daily staffing sheets and generating as requested timely reports (i.e., absentee data, floating, cancellations, extra shifts, and open needs). Ensures staffing personnel profiles are current and accurate (i.e. terminations, new hires). Reports are prepared in a formal presentation format with a summary of findings. Prioritizes workload of generating staffing schedules and data entry with daily unit staffing needs. Uses available resources (i.e., receptionists, CCPs, CNCs, managers, etc.) between all units for efficient, timely calling of staff. Keeps manager/director updated with progress towards meeting multiple work demands. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS/COMPETENCIES Performs other duties assigned. Accepts assignments to share/teach knowledge and provide support for new House Supervisory CNC, manager, relief CNC, and other staffing coordinators on staffing processes (i.e., master schedule, daily staffing, staffing data). Accepts and completes other assigned tasks in a professional manner. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Prefer computer data base entry skills with the ability to incorporate baseline knowledge into staffing/scheduling computer programs.
