ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Through the training process and current experience, the following skills and abilities are required to successfully perform this job.
** Consults with Department Managers regarding potential terminations, employee performance and counseling issues, including investigation strategies and techniques.
** Conducts initial screening and interviews for the property as needed. Performs employment verifications and background checks when applicable.
** Responsible for all administrative task such as entering applications, termination, status and address changes and hiring applicants in Lawson, and running employee roster and ad hoc reports for the General Manager when requested.
** Administers payroll and benefits (i.e., wages/salaries, insurance, 401K and vacation) to ensure Company guidelines are consistently and legally applied.
** Works with the General Manager to develop long-term solutions regarding the human resources aspect of the business.
** Settles employee/employer disputes with the input of the Corporate HR Department/General Counsel and settles third party disputes, (i.e. attorney, EEOC, DOL, OFCCP, state civil rights commission, etc.)
** Reviews performance documentation (action plans, career counseling forms, etc.) and follows up on the outstanding issues.
** Ensures that Department Managers are reviewing their employees' performance and completing their How's It Going (HIG) forms in a timely manner.
** Follows up with Department Managers to ensure that they are kept knowledgeable about legal requirements and changes to the laws (federal and state).
** Conducts orientations for all newly hired employees and introduces them to Xanterra and the property.
** Coordinates and monitors the safety/health programs for the property as well as serves as the contact person for Workers Compensation claims and processes through the MCO and TPA organizations.
** Conducts periodic wage analysis for the specific market place to ensure that the employee compensation levels are competitive and provide adequate staffing to ensure proper guest services.
** Maintains all personnel files according to retention and compliance policies.
** Stays current with the trends and developments in the human resources field.
** Performs other duties as assigned.
