PROCUREMENT SOURCING MANAGER - Contract LOCATION: GlaxoSmithKline - King of Prussia, PA DURATION: 6 months - 18 months We require an enthusiastic and well organised Sourcing Manager to work collaboratively with R&D to complete the strategy, implement the recommendations agreed with the business, deliver the cost reductions and manage the on-going key supplier relationships. The role requires close working relationships with end user Scientists, suppliers and other stakeholders in order to continue to identify and leverage new market opportunities, new user requirements and emerging technologies to deliver on-going value to the business. As workload in the team varies with time there will be a requirement to work flexibly to support other priority projects and categories as required by the business. Overview: The Lab Supplies & Equipment sourcing team is responsible for managing approx £100m per annum revenue spend on lab supplies and equipment purchasing, predominantly in GSK R&D facilities but also in GMS sites. A wide range of items, many of which are technically specialised, are being purchased, across a broad range of categories. There are some 2,700 Lab Supplies and Equipment suppliers currently in use. In response to the business challenges facing GSK, a major sourcing project was initiated in January 2008 with the objective of driving approx £10m per annum savings for R&D through an intensive and focused category management approach to the spend. The project is well underway and a number of significant benefits have been identified. One of the major categories being addressed in this new approach is ?Plasticware? which encompasses the R&D requirement for Plates, Pipet Tips, Tubes, Bottles & Caps, Vials, Flasks, Pipettes, Racks, Petri Dishes, Cylinders, and Microtubes amounting to some £10m per annum expenditure. We are currently sourcing from about 340 suppliers. This is a global category with spend predominantly in US and UK R&D sites. A Plasticware category sourcing strategy and savings plan is under development and is expected to be a major contributor to the overall team goals we are targeting £300K per annum savings from this spend area.
