PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety, Health & Risk Management Related Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for assuring safety related regulatory compliance issues are met, as well as the preparation, updating and implementation of Company and plant safety policies/standards.
  2. Responsible for the analysis, preparation and maintenance of mandatory/regulatory related safety and environmental reports/records.
  3. Takes a pro-active approach in managing Workers' Compensation loss control program. Insures reporting requirements are met.
  4. Manages Safety Team and Plant Emergency Organization (PEO) related activities. Provides direction and leadership to insure both teams are value added.
  5. Responsible for investigation and reporting processes as it relates to general liability claims and other plant property/equipment damages/losses.
Training & Education Management Related Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for coordinating, developing, facilitating and/or locating quality, pertinent and timely training programs to raise personal skill and knowledge levels throughout the organization.
  2. Serve as consultant to internal 'Key Trainer' groups as they develop and implement specific departmental training programs.
  3. Administer Educational Assistance Program.
Security/Loss Control Management Program
  1. Oversee all contract guard service operations.
  2. Develop, update and implement security/loss control policies as they relate to employee, visitor, trucker and contractor activities while on plant property. Insures alignment with bio-terrorism preventative measures from a plant security perspective.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Provide safety orientations for new employees; administer plant hearing conservation program and annual audiometric testing; maintain plant safety & training audio visual library; industrial hygiene monitoring and equipment maintenance; hazard communication program (MSDS inventory); plant safety inspections; quarterly Workers' Compensation file reviews with insurance carrier.

50% of the incumbents time is on the factory floor; 50% in office or training room

Experience - External:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety and Health, Human Resources or an Industrial related field (i.e. Industrial Health & Safe, Industrial Technology, or Industrial Hygiene) with at least three years of solid internship experience OR at least five years of related experience with a bachelor's degree.

Must have experience with OSHA regulations and knowledge of Workers Compensation law.
