JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Reports to and is directly responsible to the Regional Human Resource Director on all day-to-day duties. 2. Implement and maintain accident prevention and general safety programs in accordance with Company policies & procedures, and with all applicable federal and state safety regulations. Responsibilities include the entire Region with a primary emphasis on compliance, accident prevention, branch safety program implementation, and training. 3. Position requires at least 8 hours a day, five days a week, with one hour for lunch. Specific Job Duties 1. Accident Prevention Analyze OSHA 300 Logs, loss runs, and other sources of accident data to identify accident trends. Data will be used to prioritize and create effective safety or pre-loss activities. Evaluate needs and initiate training (such as monthly safety lessons) and new safety programs that effectively reduce losses. The type of activity taken will depend on accident trends and may be region, branch, or job site specific. Conduct regularly scheduled safety audits, inspections, and meetings to determine the effectiveness of accident prevention activities, and to ensure branch and job site compliance with all applicable loss control and safety activities. Assist branches with supervisory safety training as needed.Such training shall include but not be limited to conducting accident investigations, hazard communication, barricading, OSHA compliance, utilization of PPEs, etc. Conduct necessary follow-up to accident investigations to ensure appropriate corrective action has been taken to prevent future injuries. Notify the RegionalHuman Resource Directorof situations that are immediately dangerous to the life and health of employees or reoccurring hazards. 2. Branch Safety Program Assist branches in implementing the key elements of the Branch Safety Program. Develop and/or distribute Monthly Safety Communications ("Safety Talks") to the branches Develop and implement a process for verifying the accuracy of the Monthly Branch Safety Reports Oversee, maintain and/or administer the Drivers' Alert Program. Review the Drivers' Alert Decal Logs at least quarterly to make sure that labeled company service vehicles match the decal numbers. Train new supervisors and administrators on various elements of the Branch Safety Program as needed. Coordinate hazard communication training with the branches. Monitor and report the status of the Branch Safety Programs to the Regional Human Resource Director and other designated management personnel on a regular basis. 3. Compliance / Other Ensure that the operations maintain all records required by OSHA Ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Partner with Loss Control Consultants such as ESIS to develop and carry out meaningful annual safety plans. Maintain knowledge of safety regulations and develop strategies to ensure operations are within compliance. Assist Regional Human Resource Director with various projects and assignments. Perform other duties as required.
