Drives continuous improvement in Environment, Health & Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance Developmental positionKey Responsibilities: Develops, maintains, and reviews the EH&S program to ensure compliance with current and future legal, regulatory and corporate requirements. Proactively identifies and promptly addresses EH&S issues which may affect operations or may provide strategic advantage to the business and provides input for management review meetings. Establishes and tracks metrics for assessing EH&S effectiveness in the organisation, including the OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), the OSHA Lost/Restricted Worktime Rate (LWR) and ISO 14001 environmental performance goals. Develops and executes a plan to reduce worker injury and lost time rates. Maintains an appropriate EH&S culture through cross-functional cooperation, communications, promotions and training including employee training on EH&S procedures, industrial hygiene activities, safety surveys, review and revision of local procedures, and serving as a member of the emergency response team. Responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Environmental Management System. (ISO 14001). Responsible for appropriate procedures, approvals, co-ordination and control ofhazardous, regulated and solid wastes. Maintains all EH&S regulatory reporting requirements. Responsible for emergency planning and takes leadership role in EH&S emergency situations. Ensures that adequate evacuation and response arrangements are in place for fire, accidents and all other emergency situations. Works in partnership with other Boston Scientific EH&S professionals to establish or adopt company demonstrated best practices relevant to our industry. Initiates, conducts and maintains records of safety training for company. Responsible for formulation of budgets for EH&S department.Minimum Requirements: Educated to Degree level with Bachelor Degree in Health and Safety, and/or Environmental Management/Engineering or equivalent. A broad understanding of all matters related to EH&S in a manufacturing environment. A demonstrated track record in excess of 5 years of EH&S. Knowledge of policies, strategies, and systems needed to implement an EH&S function and a well developed information and support network. Preferred: Leadership and strategic thinking/planning skills. Applied experience in the field of ergonomics and pro-active repetitive stress injury prevention Medical device or pharmaceutical industry experience.

To be considered, candidates must have a minimum of three years experience in safety management and implementing safety programs, and a Bachelor's Degree in Safety or a related field. A Master's Degree in Safety or a related field and a CSP or CIH designations will be considered a plus. The ideal candidate would be a self starter that has excellent problem solving skills and the ability to positively interact with all departments and staffing levels. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are required.
