Based in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa manufacturing facility, Archer Daniels Midland Corn Processing seeks a Safety Manager. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager and with a dotted line to the Corporate Safety Director, this person will lead our safety program by establishing and promoting safe working conditions. This includes using professional knowledge and skills to partner with employees at all levels to assure the safe performance of work. This person will be expected to actively seek proactive measures to predict incidents, prevent reoccurrence and provide appropriate recommendations to achieve a zero injury culture. It will be the Safety Managers responsibility to plan, implement, and coordinate the company’s health and behavioral-based safety programs to eliminate occupational accidents/illnesses and assure compliance with Federal, State and local laws. Responsibilities• Provide guidance and training to management, staff, and operations personnel in regards to all applicable OSHA and regulatory agencies• Develop and implement the company’s Values Based Safety system and program in compliance with Federal, State and local regulatory requirements • Devise methods to evaluate safety program, coordinate comprehensive injury/incident analysis and facilitate development of safety improvement plans • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external resources such as fire departments, IOSHA, HAZMAT emergency response units, contractors and internal response teams to share information and ensure it is accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner disseminated to all affected stake holders, and obtain and provide mutual assistance for emergency situations • Responsible for all company regulatory filings for OSHA and other regulatory agencies• Work closely with all the safety committees’ currently in existence or formed in the future and oversee safety committee goals and achievement of those goals• Develop, implement, and facilitate all new employee and ongoing safety training.Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in a related curriculum, or equivalent work experience • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in health and safety in construction and manufacturing; • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent designation a plus • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate and manage change, and deliver effective results • Experience includes an emphasis on construction safety operations, and hazard and safety management practices • An understanding of PSM programs• Strong working knowledge of Federal, State and local Health and Safety regulatory compliance requirements• Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, leadership, analytical, organizational, and detail orientation skillsRelocation assistance is available with this position.
