Title: Safety Manager PURPOSE SUPERVALU is looking for a multi-unit experienced manager who has a comprehensive background leading and influencing retail operations, reinforced by an exceptional ability to establish rapport with business partners, gain trust, and build strong relationships. The purpose of this position is to promote company safety practices through strong leadership, the execution of safety initiative tactics, training, accident investigation/analysis and execution of store level solutions to prevent associate, vendor and customer injuries and reduce related expenses. This position will be located in the ME/NH (Shaws) area. Key skills for this position will include: Multi-Unit management Process Improvement Training and Team Building Leadership ability to motivate others to achieve desired results. Strong analytical skills required for data interpretation and analysis. Ability to interface effectively with a wide variety of personnel Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate all safety efforts with the Division Safety Director. Conduct unscheduled Safety Culture Assessments of all assigned stores, with particular emphasis on poorly performing stores. Review results with store leadership and provide guidance in action plan development to improve safety culture and frequency rate performance. Communicate corrective actions requiring management approval to District and Division Leadership. Maintain channels of communication, encouraging store and division personnel to express new ideas, suggestions and concerns, reviewing each for appropriateness and further action. Monitor and assist stores to comply with local, state and federal standards, including, but not limited to: OSHA, General Industry Safety Orders, Fire Codes, Life Safety Code, Employee Right-to-Know, Community Right-to-Know, Hazardous Waste Disposal, Lockout/Tagout, Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), Emergency Evacuation, Ergonomics and OSHA Recordkeeping. Use Risk Management Information System to track and measure safety performance, identifying exceptions to good performance and influencing the Store and District Leadership Teams to resolve specific problems relating to Training, Communication and Environment. Positively communicate company safety initiatives and conduct training on relevant topics to a variety of groups.
