Human Resources Manager

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Manager to oversee and execute all HR functions within their aerospace manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on leadership role critical to maintaining a high-performance, safety-first culture, aligning HR practices with regulatory requirements and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring broad HR generalist experience, a solid understanding of manufacturing environments, and the capability to step in as Acting HR Director when required.

Key Responsibilities

Core HR Leadership

  • Lead full-cycle HR operations including staffing, onboarding, training, employee relations, benefits, compensation, and performance management.

  • Serve as the primary HR liaison for plant leadership, supervisors, and production teams, fostering a positive, productive workplace.

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable employment laws and industry regulations (e.g., ITAR, EEO, OSHA).

Director-Level Support

  • Act as the HR Director’s delegate during periods of absence, supporting leadership meetings, strategic initiatives, and high-level decision-making.

  • Assist in aligning HR strategy with broader corporate and operational goals in a highly regulated and safety-driven environment.

  • Partner with cross-functional leadership on organizational development, workforce planning, and change management initiatives.

Talent Development & Compliance

  • Drive performance management processes, career development planning, and technical training coordination.

  • Collaborate with EH&S and Quality teams to ensure compliance with training mandates and integrate safety-related HR practices.

  • Manage sensitive employee investigations, maintaining rigorous regulatory documentation standards.

Policy, Culture & Process Improvement

  • Develop and enforce HR policies that promote safety, inclusion, accountability, and high performance.

  • Maintain up-to-date HR documentation, including the employee handbook, job descriptions, and mandatory training records.

  • Lead process improvements for HR systems and workflows, enhancing scalability and efficiency in a manufacturing setting.

Reporting & HR Systems

  • Generate HR metrics and reports for leadership, including turnover rates, headcount, absenteeism, and employee engagement indicators.

  • Effectively utilize HRIS platforms for data integrity, analysis, and workforce tracking.

  • Maintain accurate personnel and compliance records, ensuring alignment with federal defense contracting requirements (if applicable).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, or related field.

    • (Master’s degree or HR certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred.)

  • 5–8 years of progressive HR management experience, ideally in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing sectors.

  • Deep understanding of labor laws, employment regulations, and manufacturing workforce dynamics.

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to function at a director level when required.

  • Experience supporting hourly production employees, technical teams, and professional staff.

  • High proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience in union environments is a plus.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time, on-site position based at the manufacturing facility.

  • Must be comfortable working in close proximity to shop floor, engineering, and quality control teams in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

  • Occasional after-hours work may be required to support plant operations and leadership initiatives.
