SEE Eyewear is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Generalist/Manager to lead and evolve our HR function across all retail and corporate locations. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, this role will play a critical part in driving HR operations, supporting field leadership, championing company culture, and ensuring compliance across multiple states.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Southfield, Michigan , with core hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM . While the primary schedule is during business hours, the nature of supporting a nationwide retail operation requires availability to respond to urgent matters during evenings and weekends when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations & Field Support
- Serve as the primary HR contact for the organization
- Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and compliance
- Coach and support managers on disciplinary actions, investigations, and terminations
- Ensure a fair, consistent, and positive employee experience across the organization
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead onboarding initiatives for both retail and corporate hires
- Help evolve talent pipelines and build connections with universities and industry networks
Payroll, HRIS & Compliance
- Serve as a backup on weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Manage employee data and reporting through ADP Workforce Now and other HRIS systems
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and leadership
- Maintain strong working knowledge of multi-state employment laws, with emphasis on California, New York, Washington State, and Portland
- Support leave management, wage and hour compliance, and regulatory audits
HR Operations & Projects
- Assist in internal audits, records management, and policy documentation
- Support performance management cycles, training initiatives, and culture programs
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR and payroll processes and improve employee experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- At Least 3 years of HR generalist or HR manager experience, preferably in retail or multi-location environments
- Strong hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now , including payroll processing and reporting
- In-depth knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law— experience with California, New York, Washington State, and Portland employment regulations is highly preferred
- Proven success managing employee relations issues with professionalism and fairness
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); HRIS/payroll systems experience required
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus
