Job Description :
We are seeking a Contract Payroll Specialist to join a dynamic Center of Excellence (COE) managing payroll for multiple business enterprises. This role will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for 27 payrolls monthly, supporting approximately 1,500 employees. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of payroll regulations, manual payroll calculations, and payroll compliance, and be comfortable navigating various payroll systems.

This is an urgent hire , and the company is prepared to onboard a new team member within a week or two. The role is anticipated to last between 3-6 months, with the potential to transition into a permanent position.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform end-to-end payroll processing , including gross-to-net calculations, earnings, deductions, and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll laws , including wage and hour laws.
  • Handle payroll for weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly cycles, including union environments.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and process improvement during the implementation of SuccessFactors (SAP) .
  • Work in tandem with payroll and HR teams to resolve payroll issues and ensure smooth payroll operations.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to team members as necessary.
  • Contribute to a high-functioning team environment with professional maturity and flexibility to shift between tasks as needed.
Requirements:
  • Strong payroll processing expertise, with the ability to calculate paychecks manually, outside of the system.
  • Working knowledge of HCM systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, SuccessFactors).
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations , including wage and hour laws, federal and state taxation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to anticipate problems and find solutions.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SuccessFactors (SAP) or other similar payroll systems.
  • Previous experience managing payroll in union environments is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-player mentality.
