Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing, managing, and continuously improving all safety programs, regulatory compliance initiatives, and plant safety policies. This position ensures a safe working environment through effective implementation of OSHA and other regulatory standards, hazard identification, incident investigation, and safety training . The Safety Manager plays a critical role in fostering a culture of safety across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review regulatory compliance programs (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.).
- Maintain and update plant safety policies in alignment with current regulations and best practices.
- Assign, track, and report on all safety and regulatory training for employees.
- Manage Workers Compensation cases , including coordination of medical care, documentation, light-duty assignments, and financial forecasting.
- Provide hazard identification training , perform regular plant audits, and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Administer the Health & Safety budget (PPE, medical supplies, safety equipment).
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly safety reports for management review.
- Act as Medical First Responder ; administer first aid as needed.
- Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis , and manage incident case files.
- Conduct Management of Change safety reviews for new or modified processes.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to ensure alignment of safety goals with operational priorities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing safety and leadership experience .
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA standards , and Workers Compensation laws .
- Demonstrated expertise in hazard recognition , incident investigation, and case management.
- Certified or trained in First Aid, AED, CPR .
- Excellent leadership , interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams .
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds .
- Office and manufacturing plant work environment : potential exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery, heights, dust, mist, gas, or fumes.
- Minimal travel (010 days per year).
