Position Title and Purpose of Position

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist (HRG) who, under the direction of the Human Resources Manager and in full compliance with the associate handbook and all applicable laws, rules, and regulations is responsible for coordinating consistent policy application in support of the HR Department. The HRG will act as primary contact for approximately 100 associates providing information and direction relating to all areas of human resources. The HRG is responsible for coordination of recruitment, hiring and termination, disciplinary action, time and attendance and benefit administration programs along with maintenance of associate records. The successful candidate will successfully coordinate the responsibilities of the position; maintain strict confidentiality of information; be comfortable giving both positive and developmental feedback to both associates and management; and be comfortable working in a growing business within an emerging industry.

Salary

The salary range for this role is $65,000.00 to 75,000.00 USD, salary commensurate with experience. An Annual Bonus Target representing 3% of your annual base salary/annual wages is paid based on meeting both organizational and individual targets.

Major Responsibilities of Position

  • ConfidentialityMaintain strict confidentiality of both company and employee information.
  • ComplianceEnsure that HR services are provided in compliance with established system policies, procedures, and practices in addition to compliance with legal requirements.
  • Cross Functional SupportServe as internal frontline support responding to inquiries from associates, managers, and external parties regarding HR processes, policies, and procedures. Participate in cross-functional projects providing HR guidance and knowledge and ensuring compliance with system policies and procedures.
  • Policy Administration Understand and administer company policies and procedures consistently. Participate in the development and administration of effective and efficient human resources policies and practices designed to meet associate needs and legislative demands. Research associate practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies.
  • Reporting complete assigned monthly HR reports, provide data into useable, presentable formats, and keep accurate records of associate changes and movement.
  • Paycor Optimization- Learn and use Paycor portal to its highest degree of usefulness for the HR, payroll, and timekeeping functions, ensuring accurate associate information is maintained in multiple systems; create reports and analyze data. Assist associates and supervisors on the timekeeping system to ensure accurate associate hours for payroll.
  • Recruiting and Hiring - Lead the internal and external recruiting and hiring process: post openings, collect and screen applications, conduct 1st round interviews with hiring manager or supervisor, follow up with candidates, maintain applicant tracking system, prepare job offers, and arrange orientation. Partner with department leadership to work on recruitment strategy for hard to fill positions, providing guidance and resolution.
  • Time and Attendance Management Coordination of time & attendance program in coordination with attendance policies, including but not limited to: coordination of weekly time review and approval for payroll, coordination of prevailing wage time reports for weekly payroll processing; coordination of time off programs including yearend roll-over/payout.
  • Benefit Administration Administration of associate benefit plans including, assisting associates with benefits enrollment as part of onboarding, researching and coordinating benefit plan changes, ensuring the accuracy of on-line tools, and assist with claims management as necessary, ensuring legal requirements.
  • Record Maintenance Coordination and maintenance of a variety of associate records including, electronic data as well as and paper ensuring confidentiality and compliance to data protection regulations. Coordinate and maintain accurate records of associate changes and movement. Coordinate the online tools and programs used to support HR functions. Audit and discard records according to retention requirements.
  • Performance Management Coordination of the disciplinary and corrective action processes. Serve as the primary contact for staff disciplinary issues. Addresses policy violations in a timely manner and in accordance with established disciplinary policies and procedures. Investigate, document fact finding and make recommendations for work-related discipline utilizing Discipline Review sessions to ensure open communication between the supervisor and managers. Coordination of the organizations hourly evaluation processes, both at probation and annually.
  • Workers Compensation Claim ManagementWorking with the safety organization, coordinating claims to safeguard the associates well-being, ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and external regulations.
  • Training and Development Programs Coordination of the organizations training and development programs including new hire orientation, departmental onboarding, electrical apprentice program and tuition reimbursement program. Creation of schedules, documents and tracking tools. Tracking outcomes of training such as records, grades or evaluations.
  • Other duties as assigned, including special projects as they arise.

Education, Certification, License Requirements

  • Valid State Drivers License.
  • Bachelors degree in human resource management/equivalent field of study or 8 years of directly related experience.
  • Three to five years of human resource experience required, specifically focused in the areas of recruitment, associate relations, and HR system coordination .
  • Experience with Paycor, preferred
  • Experience in the construction industry, preferred
  • Experience with prevailing wage, preferred


Physical demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily.


Work Environment:

  • The role is located at headquarters in Jackson, Michigan. The work schedule is Monday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a minimum 30-minute lunch required daily. Overtime can be anticipated to ensure task completion. Flexibility to the work schedule is available through the Core Hours policy. The HR Department supports the headquarters and a satellite office in Champaign, Illinois. This is an in-office role; remote work is available on an exception basis.
  • Office Environment: Busy office with frequent interruptions and multi-tasking required; standard office equipment is available, including Microsoft Office. This position supports associates working in a shop environment and therefore have occasional exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid and cold conditions.


BENEFIT OFFERINGS

Immediately after Hire:

  • Nine Paid Holidays per Year. Including: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve.
  • Paid Vacation: Vacation time is accrued each week at a rate of 1.5384 to achieve 80 hours in the calendar year. Unused vacation can be paid out and/or up to 40 unused hours can be rolled over at year end. In 2025 you will accrue 49 hours.
  • Monthly Cell Phone Allowance: $43.00 per month.
  • Monthly Car Allowance: $600.00 per month or issued with a company vehicle.

  • Issuance of a Harvest Solar Fleet Vehicle for company business. Personal use of fleet vehicles is prohibited.


The First of the Month after the Date of Hire:

  • Health Insurance. The premiums are a shared expense with 80% covered by Harvest Solar and 20% covered by the associate via a weekly payroll deduction. Premiums are based on level of coverage, i.e., Associate only, Associate & Spouse, Associate & Child(ren), Family).

      • Members can seek care from in-network and out-of-network providers.
      • preventive care covered 100% when received in-network.

      • HSA compatible health plan. An HSA is a tax-deductible savings account used in conjunction with the health plan. Contribution limits are determined by the IRS. Harvest Solar will make the following weekly deposit into your HSA account based on the coverage options: Associate: $10.64; Associate & Spouse: $27.25; Associate & Child(ren): $21.65; Family: $37.55

  • Group Life Insurance: $50,000.00 of group life insurance, with and Accident Death clause. Premiums are covered by Harvest Solar
  • Group Short Term Disability: 60% of your earnings, with a $1,000.00 weekly maximum, are available for injury or illness after a seven-day waiting period. Premiums are covered by Harvest Solar.
  • Voluntary Supplemental Programs: Accident, Critical illness, and Hospital Indemnity are available at the associates expense. Plans are organized through Allstate and premiums are paid through payroll deduction.


At 90 Days of Employment:

  • Paid Time Off (PTO): 40 Hours are available each year on January 1. PTO Is available to assist you in managing your time off work for personal appointments. PTO does not rollover, nor is it paid out at the end of the year, unused PTO is forfeited. In the first year of employment available hours are prorated based on your date of hire.


The First of the Month After 90-Days of Employment:

  • Harvest Solar 401k Plan: Associates are auto enrolled at a 3% deferral rate. The plan is administered by Vestwell. Auto enrolled contribution is invested in a Retire-On-Time plan. Once enrolled, the associate may make changes that include:
    • Increasing the Deferral Rate to the Applicable IRS Limits: A company match is available. When the associate defers 3%, Harvest Solar matches 3%. When the associate defers 4%, the Harvest Solar the first 3.5%. When the associate defers 5%, Harvest Solar matches the first 4%.
    • Changing the Account Type: Both a pre-tax and Roth account is available.
    • Changing the Investment Type: The plan offers standard plans to address risk or age of retirement, or the associate can customize their own investment.
