Role Specific Details

The Occupational Safety & Compliance Manager is a subject matter expert in occupational safety and health at Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions concerning employee safety and health, injury prevention and reduction efforts, employee injury classification and analysis. This role identifies hazards to employee safety and manages the abatement of such hazards by identifying injury trends and non-compliance threats and responding to location/divisional concerns and requests. This position is key in providing guidance to all divisions on compliance with occupational standards, as well as reviewing and auditing policies, practices, and physical locations with respect to occupational safety regulations and requirements.

Role Summary
  • Principal owner of employee injury data for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air responsible for:
    • Performs analysis and audits of injury data to ensure compliance with OSHA recordability requirements
    • Describes employee injury performance data numerically and graphically to create statistical summarizations.
    • Audit injury data to ensure accuracy and compliance with all state and federal regulations.
    • Produces, distributes, and ensures all AAG locations are compliant with OSHA log posting and document retention regulations.
  • Partner with Operating division leadership on identifying injury trends and support divisions in injury reduction efforts including ergonomic evaluations and recommendations to drive improvements.
  • Conduct injury investigations of accidents and incidents involving Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air personnel or property.
  • Ensure the development and delivery frequency OSHA regulated training content and schedules for all affected employees at Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on employee health and safety best practices, including regulatory compliance interpretation.
  • Revise and update Safety Manual Sections pertaining to OSHA, Occupational, and Industrial safety as needed.
  • Develop and present findings and give presentations to all levels of the company on occupational, industrial, and health safety related matters.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 4 years of experience in occupational, industrial, or health related safety programs, or related area.
  • Bachelors degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Ability to regularly travel up to two days per month or more as required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • OSHA 10 or 30 hour training

Starting Rate Salary Range $97,200 -- $145,800 / year Bonus Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We dont typically hire at the top of the range.
