We are seeking a Sr. Learning and Development Manager to develop world-class learning solutions for our internal Commercial and Sales teams, including Account Managers, Business Development Managers, and operational support teams across Amazon Shipping. In this position, you will be an architect and leader in creating and improving learning products, from new hire onboarding programs and monthly skill assessments to training on new tool launches and industry-relevant continuous improvement initiatives. The solutions you create will enable improved employee experience, shorten lead times to proficiency, and provide performance support at the point of need. This includes performing needs assessments to identify learning objectives with business stakeholders, designing, developing, testing, and rapidly iterating instructional content for your audience, and developing knowledge and performance observation assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training.

A successful candidate has deep experience and expertise with advanced multimedia skills, and a track record of creating engaging learning experiences using gamification, storytelling, interactive simulations, and knowledge assessments. The ability to create immersive, data-driven learning experiences is a must; as is the ability to quantitatively track the performance of these initiatives and their impact on strategic business goals.

Key job responsibilities

* Own the end-to-end development lifecycle of learning programs from analysis to implementation.

* Partner with business stakeholders to understand program goals, conduct needs analyses, and define the learning solution that will make their programs successful

* Create performance-focused training content that engages our learners, ensuring content is ready for localization and deployment in international marketplaces

* Create bar raising learning tools, performance support aids, practice tests, online tutorials, and other materials to meet identified needs

* Design tests, quizzes, and other assessments to ensure learner understanding and performance

* Use learning metrics to evaluate engagement and retention, adjusting content as needed to achieve learning goals.

* Manage projects amidst ambiguity, competing priorities, and challenging deadlines

Basic Qualifications

* BA or BS degree

* 5+ years of work experience in instructional design or learning experience design

* 3+ years working in the leadership development space

* Experience with adult learning theory, instructional design theories, visual design and learning industry trends and best practices

* Demonstrated experience with key technologies such as Storyline, Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

* Proven ability to collaborate and influence across cross-functional teams in global environment without positional authority

* Proven analytical capabilities; experience deriving relevant insights, trends, and themes from large amounts of data and developing summary reports for consumption by senior stakeholder

* Demonstrated proficiency in assessing training effectiveness and ROI to stakeholders and leaders

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $189,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
