As an initiative of ODJFS Director Matt Damschroder, the Office of Transformation partners with programs and employees throughout the agency to enhance internal and external customers' experiences, enriches employees' experiences through participation in transformation initiatives, and promotes an environment for everyone at ODJFS to get better at what we do every day. Transformation initiatives are agency-wide or program specific, team-based, and cross-functional to include staff across program offices and at all levels. The Deputy Transformation Officer assists the Chief Transformation Officer with creating, leading, promoting, and measuring improvement initiatives that support ODJFS' Guiding Principles. Transformation initiatives make it easier for customers to interact with us and create opportunities to make ODJFS a place where employees want to work and grown their careers.

What You'll Do
- Assist the Chief Transformation Officer with creating and leading initiatives that improve how we serve our customers and employees.
- Take a leading role in the implementation and further growth of the ODJFS Transformation LAB (Learning, Assisting, and Building). The Transformation LAB is made up of seven important practice areas: change management, customer experience, data management and analytics, human centered design, plain language, process improvement, and project management. The LAB fosters learning, encourages collaboration, and promotes innovation within ODJFS. Recruit participants, identify ways to engage employees, advise volunteer employee leaders on topics and skills to present to practitioners and employees. Research organizations, tools, and resources to support the practices. Create resources and learnings.
- Help implement the organizational health initiative and survey to hear from employees about what the agency is doing right and where there is room to improve. Create and implement initiatives to improve areas identified as areas to improve. Recruit participants, manage collaboration, track and report progress, and present on topics of interest to employees.
- Serve as a leader of the HEARD (Hearing Everyone & Responding with Diligence) program that allows employees to submit ideas for possible improvements. Research ideas, make decisions about ideas and award levels, promote the program, track and report results, and communicate successes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to collaborate with programs and central services areas throughout ODJFS to assist them with using the LAB practice areas to improve their services to customers, internal processes, and employee engagement.
- Serve as an internal consultant for process improvement and customer experience initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and create better experiences for external customers and ODJFS employees.
- Serve as a trainer, facilitator, and leader for the development of employee skills at all levels of the organization.
- Use data analytics skills to evaluate the impact of projects and initiatives. Report the findings in a story format to convey what the data shows. Use charts and graphs to report information.
- Present information about transformation activities to executive team members, senior leaders, and all employees.
- Write and design communications that inform, promote, and instruct.
- Serve as a project manager and leader of projects and contracts involving third-party vendors and consultants.
- Build relationships with leaders and staff throughout the agency, across other agencies, and with external stakeholders and organizations.
- Identify and provide opportunities for employees to seek certification and further training in LAB practice areas. Encourage and support employees through their coursework and credentialing.
The final selected candidate for this position will be challenged to lead, think creatively and proactively, and identify opportunities to engage employees in the agency's initiatives to support the Guiding Principles. You will be challenged to find ways to work across programs to bring areas together to collaborate and support each other. You will be challenged to use your expertise to convince others about new ways of looking at issues and operating better by doing it differently.
- This position is unclassified per ORC 124.11 (A)(9) and is deemed overtime exempt.
Schedule: Full-time.
Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Travel: Occasional travel within the state of Ohio.

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
OPTION 1:
- Completion of undergraduate core program in public or business administration, social science or human resource management and 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques and 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in managerial principles/techniques.
OR OPTION 2:
- 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in delivery of employment & training related government programs, community or private industry human resource programs and 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques and 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in managerial principles/techniques.
OR OPTION 3:
- 12 mos. exp. as ODJFS Program Administrator 1, 64291.
OR OPTION 4:
- Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio's E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 16. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $47.50 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
