The HR Generalist will support the full spectrum of human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with labor laws. This role will work closely with managers and staff to address HR issues, implement policies, and foster a positive work environment. The HR Generalist will also assist with benefits administration and contribute to various HR initiatives.How YOU can Make an Impact:
Assist and support the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening applicants, and conducting interviews.
Collaborate with department managers to understand staffing needs and required skills.
Facilitate new hire onboarding, including orientation and employee recognition programs.
Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Address employee inquiries related to employment policies, benefits, and general HR matters.
Handle employee disciplinary actions, including meetings, investigations, and terminations.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; review and update policies to maintain compliance.
Support in managing disputes and performance issues in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.
Monitor and track mandatory and non-mandatory training (e.g., safety, anti-harassment, professional certifications).
Ensure that employees complete required continuing education and assessments.
Support employee development and growth through training programs and performance management.
Administer compensation, benefits, and leave programs for employees.
Maintain employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Track and report HR metrics related to employee performance, morale, and productivity.
Assist in managing workplace safety programs and initiatives.
Ensure compliance with occupational health standards and contribute to a safe working environment.
Stay updated on HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and employment law relevant to the correctional healthcare industry.
Recommend and implement improvements to HR processes and employee programs.
Perform additional HR-related tasks as assigned.
What we Ask of YOU:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Resources, Finance, Sales, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline) from an accredited institution preferred.
Additional certifications or specialized training may be required depending on the function (e.g., Certified Human Resources Professional (PHR) for HR roles, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for Finance roles, etc.).
Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the specific functional area (e.g., HR, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, etc.).
Experience in healthcare, correctional healthcare, or a regulated industry is preferred.
Demonstrated success in applying function-specific skills (e.g., employee relations for HR, financial reporting for Finance, or sales strategy for Sales) is required.
Knowledge of relevant industry-specific regulations, compliance standards, and best practices may be required, particularly for roles in highly regulated functions like HR and Finance.
Relevant industry certifications based on the role (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, CPA, etc.).
Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved), if role is located in a correctional facility.
