Job Title Employment Benefits Coordinator Job Description
The Employment Benefits Coordinator is responsible for providing expertise and support in a variety of human resources (HR) areas, including employee benefits, compliance and reporting, policy and procedure interpretation, and employee onboarding.
Essential Duties Summary
Manage all HR functions related to employee benefits, including enrollments, status changes, and terminations.
Liaise with current and prospective benefits vendors on behalf of the college.
Provide expertise to employees on benefits options, especially during onboarding and open enrollment periods.
Respond to all benefits, leave administration, and retirement inquiries in a timely manner.
Reconcile monthly benefit billings.
Complete mandatory federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
Ensure accurate interpretation of HR-related policies and procedures.
Support the annual employee review process.
Participate in hiring committees as an HR representative.
Maintain employee benefit data in the College's HRIS system and update benefit enrollment forms as needed.
Maintain employment benefit videos in the Human Resources app.
Complete prior state service and creditable state service transfers for new employees.
Assist with coordination of annual onsite flu vaccine clinic.
Assist with other HR-related duties as assigned.
Participate in professional and staff development opportunities.
Serve on committees as required.
Perform other duties as assigned and other related duties incident to the work described herein.
Salary Range Based on experience. Starting salary range $44,747 to $67,120. Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Required: Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Office Administration, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work or meet in the evenings and/or on weekends, with advanced notice.
- Ability to provide leadership in anticipating and responding to change.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with others.
- Ability to use productivity software, including a general knowledge of word processors and spreadsheets, the ability to send and receive email, and to complete and submit electronic forms.
- Employees are expected to perform essential computer skills (log on/off a computer, manage and organize files, print/scan forms using a copier, maintain and recall secure passwords and change password(s) routinely per college procedures).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Provide exceptional customer services with people internal and external to the institution.
- Providing vision and leadership.
- Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college.
- Flexible and adapts to change.
- Willingness to collaborate with multiple departments to achieve excellence for customers and students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- Preferred: Experience in a Community College.
- Preferred: 3-5 years benefit experience.
Physical Demands
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information, analyze data, make assessments, and exercise good judgment to make decisions; possess ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus; and effective use of all forms of communication (oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers. Be able to lift weights up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
