Job Summary

The Assistant HR Manager supports the day-to-day Human Resources operations of a manufacturing facility. This role helps drive employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, policy administration, performance management, training, compliance, and workforce support in a fast-paced plant environment. The Assistant HR Manager works closely with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to maintain a positive work culture, support operational goals, and ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.

Responsibilities and Duties

Support the HR Manager in overseeing daily HR operations for the manufacturing site.

Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding hourly and salaried employees.

Partner with supervisors and department managers on staffing needs, attendance issues, disciplinary actions, and employee performance concerns.

Provide guidance to employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace issues.

Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action documentation.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.

Support leave administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and accommodations as needed.

Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, and required reporting.

Assist with payroll coordination, timekeeping review, and attendance tracking.

Coordinate training programs, new hire orientation, and employee development initiatives.

Support performance review processes and succession planning efforts.

May be assigned other duties as required.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree (B.A.), or one to two years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong leadership, excellent verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization and external contacts.

Solid decision-making skills.

Working Conditions

This position requires physical exertion. The employee will regularly walk and frequently stand, walk, reach, or kneel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
