(Bartlett, IL) seeks a Safety Specialist to administer safety policies, ensure compliance with transportation regulations, manage fleet and driver safety, conduct training, and maintain certifications and documentation. Responsibilities include accident prevention and compliance monitoring. Specific Duties: Monitor compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours-of-Service (HOS) and electronic log requirements; review logs, identify violations, and provide driver coaching; Maintain Driver Qualification Files (DQF) and fleet compliance records; audit physical and digital files for accuracy and retention; Conduct driver safety orientation and periodic training on topics such as defensive driving, incident reporting, and workplace safety; Investigate accidents and incidents; collect reports and documentation; recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence; Run Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) checks; conduct FMCSA Clearinghouse queries; Coordinate pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing with third-party administrators; maintain records of compliance; Prepare basic safety and transportation compliance reports for management and insurance purposes; Track commercial driver licenses (CDL), medical certificates, and other required credentials; assist with timely renewals; Support regulatory submissions and follow-ups, including FMCSA DataQ challenges. Requirements: Position requires: 48 months of experience as a Safety Specialist, Safety Manager, or closely related role in the transportation/logistics company. Special Requirements: Must have 48 months of experience in each of the following: 1) running MVR and PSP reports using platforms like HireRight and conducting Clearinghouse queries, 2) preparing and submitting FMCSA DataQ challenges related to inspections/crash reports and tracking outcomes, and 3) coordinating drug and alcohol testing programs via third-party providers.
