Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Training Manager

DEPARTMENT: School Nutrition Services

WORK WEEK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday

WORK HOURS: 7:00 - 3:30; Occasional evenings and weekends

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months

SALARY GRADE 66 ($3,018 - $3,950 per month based on experience)

Term: 12 Months

Reports To: Assistant Director and Executive Director of School Nutrition

KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists supervisors in working with School Nutrition Managers on specific reports,records, production areas, or equipment in the program

Trains new and/or experienced employees on quantity production methods and equipment in the kitchens

Makes a daily report back to the assigned School Nutrition Supervisor of issues and activities completed with personnel and schools

Attends assigned classes/workshops as designated by the department

Assists in teaching classes/workshops with new managers and employees which includesNew Hire Orientation

Assists new managers in job responsibilities related to food orders, work schedules, cleaning schedules, and preparation of other pertinent records

Works as a temporary manager in a school site when emergency situations occur

Assists with set up of workshop locations, registrations, workshop activities, etc. as directed by the Executive Director and/or Assistant Director of School Nutrition

Works with food related operations including weekly food orders

Works with catering projects as needed upon request

Conducts NC Administrative Reviews in assigned schools

Conducts Quality Assurance checks

Provides on-going training at sites

Completes any other assignments/duties requested by the Executive Director and/or Assistant Director of School Nutrition

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree is preferred

School Nutrition experience is required; minimum of 2 years experience in food service management in a commercial or institutional setting, or a related field

Or other equivalent combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements;

Hold and maintain certification in food service sanitation or obtain certification within three months of hire.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Culinary background;

Fundamental understanding of local, state, and federal regulations governing Child Nutrition Programs (National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Summer Food Service Program).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to use a variety of office and cafeteria equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, and food preparation equipment. Must be able to communicate effectively. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to fifty pounds. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are mostly sedentary with occasional moderately heavy

Work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work in an office and food preparation environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, students, external agencies, vendors, parents, and the community.

Travel within Johnston County required.
