Payroll Tax Administrator Opportunity in Lee's Summit, Missouri

M-F, 8am-5pm, $65,000-$100,000 plus Benefits after 90 days

POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll Tax Administrator will complete more complex routine and non-routine payroll tax processes. This position will be responsible for preparing and reviewing payroll tax data, preparing routine reports, filing and remitting Federal, multi-State, and local taxes.

Essential Functions:

Prepares routine payroll-related tax returns and processes payments of tax by the appropriate due dates.

Sets up new work locations by state and county and ensures that compliances are current. Works with appropriate departments as directed.

Checks that 401(k) deferrals, employer 401(k) matching funds, non-qualified deferred compensation and Section 125 funds are paid to the appropriate administrator by the appropriate due date.

Helps with the quarter-end and year-end payroll balancing.

Uploads new hire reports to different states.

Manages difficult or emotional customer situations promptly and efficiently.

Meets client commitments; recognizes and acts upon service opportunities.

Solicits and applies feedback to improve quality and service.

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

Updates payroll software or other systems with data such as: state unemployment tax rates and new hire information.

Reconciles routine and related general ledger accounts to the actual payments on a quarterly basis.

Collects and researches information and translates into meaningful data.

Uses intuition and experience to complement data.

Identifies data relationships and dependencies.

Applies information to design effective and efficient workflows and procedures.

Cross-train for tasks in other positions in the Accounting, Finance, and Tax Departments and provide office coverage in absence of other staff.

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

Updates payroll software or other systems with data such as: state unemployment tax rates and new hire information.

Collects and researches information and translates into meaningful data.

Uses intuition and experience to complement data.

Identifies data relationships and dependencies.

Applies information to design effective and efficient workflows and procedures.

Creates and runs reports from HRIS system.

Performs other related duties and projects as required and assigned.

Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings as directed.

Other duties as assigned.

This position prefers a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration.

Proficiency in payroll software and systems with the ability to adapt to new technologies.

Effective analytical skills combined with strong written and verbal skills.

Thorough computer-based analytical skills (e.g. Access, Excel-based analysis)

Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
