Human Resources Generalist - Recruitment and Benefits - Hybrid

We are seeking a dynamic Human Resources Generalist specializing in Recruitment and Benefits to join our team in Bayside, Queens. This is a hybrid position. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Assistant Director of Human Resources in supporting system-wide programs. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment and retention, benefits and employment law compliance.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conducts recruitment effort for positions system wide, as needed.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with schools, alumni groups, and other public organizations to find and attract applicants.
  • Assists with audits in benefits administration and personnel files.
  • Develop and maintains job descriptions.
  • Develops and maintains monitoring instrument to measure outcomes and make recommendations regarding turnover, etc.
  • Researches, plans, organizes, establishes, and conducts training programs for all levels of employees.
  • Orients and serves as a resource person to new supervisors, managers and department directors regarding human resources policy and procedures.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining human resources policies.
  • Acts as back up to the Benefits Specialist.
  • Handles daily aspects of employee benefit programs, including, but not limited to, health insurance, voluntary benefits, Pension and FSA.
  • Manages leave insurance premium payments, insuring appropriate employee contributions according to policy guidelines.
  • Responsible for addressing questions and concerns related to the benefit program.
  • Reviews employee incident reports, noting Worker's Compensation cases and following through with the employee and Worker's Compensation, as necessary.
  • Reviews OSHA log of incident reports and posts according to established guidelines.
  • Coordinates the open enrollment meetings with all organization locations.
  • Coordinates monthly new hire orientation.
  • Assists in the coordination and implementation of special programs.
  • Assists in standardizing the methods in which tasks will be accomplished.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Formal education required:

Bachelor degree and/or relevant work experience equivalent. BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Health Services or related field preferred.

Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Previous experience required:

Must have as a minimum three (3) years experience in Human Resources.

Must possess a through knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines concerning personnel administration in a health care setting.
