POSITION OBJECTIVE
Advance the strategy of Human Resources by administering effective operations and supporting HR's strategic direction. Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer (VPHR/CHRO) with a high degree of independence, this position provides strategic advice to the VPHR/CHRO on a daily basis, presenting context that helps set executive priorities and ensures the timely flow of information to and from the executive office. The director serves as the operational hub of the HR department, increasing the VPHR/CHRO's availability for high-level responsibilities while independently managing projects and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide high-level administrative management to the division with a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Manage complex scheduling for the VPHR/CHRO, prioritizing meetings and events based on shifting institutional goals. Guide the HR leadership team on business continuity procedures during an emergency to ensure divisional operational resilience. Anticipate the needs of the VPHR/CHRO and independently address issues or resolve matters of significance on their behalf. Ensure that all confidential matters and time-sensitive materials are processed with the highest level of integrity. (30%)
Serve as the primary interface between the VPHR/CHRO's office and university leadership, including the Cabinet and Board of Trustees. Create and edit executive-level human resources communications, briefings, and presentations for the VPHR/CHRO and HR Leadership Team members. Leverage data reporting tools to identify trends and provide actionable insights that guide executive decision-making. Conduct independent research on a variety of subjects and synthesize key messages into talking points for the VPHR/CHRO. (25%)
Continually assess the efficiency of administrative processes and implement improvements through new methods and documentation. Adopt emerging technologies, specifically artificial intelligence tools, to enhance human resources administrative workflows. Manage equipment inventory, repairs, and custodial service requests for all human resources office spaces. (20%)
Lead and participate in, alongside other human resources leaders, human resources engagement efforts, including the planning and administration of divisional events, programs, and initiatives. (15%)
Oversee procurement needs on behalf of human resources. Administer human resources budget expenses and serve as an approver of HR accounts payable activities. (10%)
