Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Senior HR Manager, the Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering the employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks. This position supports employees and managers at multiple locations in the US.
This fast-paced role has no two days alike, and the combination of answering inquiries and processing transactions can change with the department's needs. This role can immediately shift focus and prioritize multiple work requests while remaining positive and upbeat. The position is part of a knowledgeable, flexible, and enjoyable HR team that works closely together on all aspects of HR, with a primary focus on benefits.
This is a non-supervisory position.
Responsibilities:
May be responsible for or assist other HR team members with the following HR functions:
Benefits:
Participates in benefits administration, including new hire paperwork, assisting with the coordination of open enrollment, and communicating benefit information to employees
Coordinates and presents new hire benefits orientation
Responds to benefits questions from managers and employees on plan details, enrollments, and general inquiries
Responds to 401(k) inquiries relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts.
Reconciles and submits benefit invoices to finance for processing payments
Assists with the coordination and administration of COBRA insurance and other benefit paperwork to ensure timely and accurate processing of information according to procedures and policies
May assist with creating, developing, and administering company wellness programs for employees, such as the coordination of on-site fitness class schedules
Employee Relations:
Respond to inquiries and resolve problems regarding policies, procedures, and programs
Advises management in the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
Assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee handbooks, communications, and meetings
Staffing & Training:
Facilitates new employee orientation, benefits orientation, and safety training
Coordinates employee training programs, such as harassment policy training
Other Job Functions:
Complete verifications of employment
May assist with the coordination of employee events and Years of Service Awards
Back up other areas of HR as needed
Updates to the company intranet site as needed
Other projects as required
RequirementsEducation/Experience:
Requires a Bachelors degree with a preferred minimum of two years of related HR experience with benefits administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources
Preference for professional HR certification
Other Requirements:
Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of employee benefits administration and applicable laws
Familiar with Paylocity/HRIS systems preferred
Requires a valid drivers license for occasional local travel to training
Infrequent domestic travel may be required for training or visits to other business units
