Our team is seeking a Safety Specialist to join our team. This role promotes a culture of safety in our fabrication shops. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring a safe working environment.

THIS ROLE
The Safety Specialist supports the implementation and daily execution of Kinsley Steel's safety program within the fabrication shop environment. This role emphasizes consistent floor presence, hazard recognition, employee engagement, and reinforcement of safe work practices during steel fabrication activities.
This position is hands-on and shop-focused, designed to build practical safety experience while supporting supervisors and employees in maintaining a safe, efficient fabrication operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Shop Floor Presence & Engagement
- Maintain a consistent presence on the fabrication shop floor
- Observe fabrication activities and identify hazards in real time
- Engage employees to reinforce safe behaviors and correct unsafe conditions
- Support a visible, approachable safety presence
Inspections & Hazard Identification
- Document findings and track corrective actions to closure
Training & Communication
- Assist with new hire safety onboarding for shop employees
- Support and help deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Provide clear, practical safety coaching
Incident Support
- Assist with incident and near-miss reporting
- Participate in incident investigations
- Help identify root causes and corrective actions
- Follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed
Program Support & Documentation
- Maintain safety records (inspections, training logs, reports)
- Assist with documentation and recordkeeping
- Support continuous improvement of shop safety programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of experience in a safety, EHS, or risk management role preferred
- Relevant professional certifications preferred, such as ASP or CSP
