Job Description The Safety Coordinator will support a subcontractor on a confidential data center construction project, promoting a strong safety culture and guiding workers to perform their tasks safely and in compliance with all applicable regulations and site policies. Responsibilities
- Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across the construction site by guiding workers and supervisors toward safe work practices.
- Monitor daily construction activities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety procedures, OSHA standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits, documenting findings and following up on corrective actions.
- Support the development and communication of job hazard analyses and safe work plans for construction activities.
- Provide on-the-spot safety coaching and guidance to field personnel to prevent unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Assist with incident and near-miss reporting, investigation, and documentation, helping to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to reinforce safety expectations and best practices.
- Ensure that workers use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and that safety equipment is available, properly maintained, and used correctly.
- Collaborate with site supervision and project teams to integrate safety into planning, scheduling, and execution of construction tasks.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- At least 2 years of construction experience working specifically as a Safety Coordinator or in a similar safety-focused role.
- Strong knowledge of construction site safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to effectively guide and influence workers and supervisors toward safe work behaviors.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, observations, and incident reporting.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to convey safety expectations and procedures.
- Ability to work on an active construction site and navigate varying site conditions safely.
- Bilingual language skills are a significant plus and highly valued for communicating with a diverse workforce.
- Experience supporting safety on large, complex projects such as industrial or data center construction is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with field personnel and project teams.
- Organizational skills to maintain safety records, track corrective actions, and support compliance efforts.
- Proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a focus on hazard recognition and prevention.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goose Creek, SC.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $40.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
