Responsible for organizing, coordinating and monitoring the Heavy Equipment post-secondary adult vocational (PSAV) program to ensure effective program operations in compliance with state and federal standards and guidelines. Responsibilities include classroom and lab instruction, preparation and maintenance of facilities and equipment, recordkeeping, and evaluating courses and curriculum to ensure high-quality instruction for students. Job Duties: Instruction and classroom responsibilities Provides instruction for the Heavy Equipment program, including classroom and hands-on lab instruction, as reasonably requested by the college. Ensure students adhere to safety protocols and procedures when handling equipment and tools. Prepares daily lab activities and any other scheduled instructional activities, ensuring the workspace is clean, safe, stocked and free of broken or unusable equipment. Takes attendance and maintains student records for this non-credit program. Grades assignments and lab work. Prepares and administer, appropriate to course content, including the comprehensive final exam. Evaluates student performance through assessments, projects, simulations and practicums. Provides student feedback and handles student disciplinary action escalating when needed. Advise students on academic progress, employability skills, internship and employment opportunities. Collaborating with outside agencies and employers for potential job placement. Stays abreast of industry standards and changes in technology, maintaining technical certifications/licensures necessary for the position. Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for departmental programs, actively participates in college functions, events, and engages in community service. Administrative & Operational Support Performs administrative tasks such as printing worksheets, tracking attendance, and preparing instructional materials. Supports college's strategic initiatives for student success, retention, completion, placement and continuous improvement for accreditation, including participating in program planning, accreditation reviews, and institutional effectiveness initiatives. Enters grades into the computer system and any other reporting as reasonably needed. Creates/Revises Syllabus and course schedules as needed. Manages deliveries, restocks materials and cuts materials in preparation for student use as needed. Oversees material handling and ensures efficient use of supplies with minimal waste. As part of inventory, provides a list of supplies, tools and materials that need to be ordered. Oversees shop/lab cleanliness and ensures ongoing maintenance. Supplemental Job Information: This is a full-time position responsible for coordinating and teaching an 1,800-clock-hour curriculum for service technicians who maintain and repair heavy equipment. Instruction and program delivery must align with guidelines established by the Florida Department of Education and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Equipment Used: Torch/Welding, Forklift, Pallet jack, Jacking & Craning Equipment, Air Tools, Grinders, Power Equipment Industrial sized wrenches, Engine Stands, Specialized tools such as Air Conditioning recycle machine, Brazing & Soldering, Air Compressor, Hand Tools, Test Equipment (Hydraulic, Electrical, Pneumatic), Trainers Minimum Qualifications: The position requires at least a bachelor's degree and at least three years of prior-related work experience or at least a High School diploma or GED equivalent if substituting experience for education. Technical certification may be required for some programs (ASE certifications in T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7 and T8).
