JOB TITLE: Employment Consultant
DEPARTMENT: Employment Services
SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Director of Employment Services
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None
JOB STATUS: Full/Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday 8am- 4:30pm; flexibility required
Summary:
Provide individualized employment services to support individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining competitive, integrated employment. This role includes job development, job coaching, and ongoing support services, with a focus on person-centered planning and meaningful employment outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Individualized Planning & Service Delivery
- Develop, implement, and evaluate Individual Plan goals, objectives, and action steps
- Utilize person-centered planning with input from individuals, families, and support teams
- Support individuals in achieving measurable improvements in quality of life
Job Development
- Assess individual interests, skills, and employment goals
- Identify job opportunities based on labor market trends and individual preferences
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers and promote program services
- Match individuals with appropriate employment opportunities
- Identify and address barriers to employment
- Maintain communication with clients, families, and service providers
Job Coaching
- Provide on-site training and support tailored to individual needs
- Utilize best practices to teach job tasks and workplace expectations
- Support development of natural supports in the workplace
- Train employers and coworkers as appropriate
- Implement strategies to gradually fade support and promote independence
- Adjust schedules to meet the needs of individuals and employers
Extended Services & Follow-Up Support
- Maintain ongoing contact with clients and employers
- Monitor job performance, satisfaction, and stability
- Provide continued training and support as needed
- Connect individuals to additional resources (e.g., transportation, benefits planning)
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and outcomes
- Track progress toward employment goals and program outcomes
- Maintain schedules, time tracking, and required reporting systems
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a structured yet flexible schedule
- Experience in job development, coaching, or workforce services preferred
- Knowledge of employment supports for individuals with disabilities preferred
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Problem-solving and advocacy abilities
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Google Workspace, documentation systems)
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Ability to travel locally and within the state as needed
- Ability to work flexible hours based on client and employer needs
- Frequent movement between job sites, community locations, and office settings
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
Certifications & Training Requirements:
- CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification
- Certified Restraint Training
- Core A & B certification
- Completion of required agency and regulatory trainings (e.g., Human Rights, Safety, Medication Administration)

Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
2 years competitive employment, and/or training exposure to related rehabilitation areas preferred.
College degree and/or EST certification is preferred.
Some sales experience preferred.
Salary Description
$15-18/hr
