319141 Department BL HUMAN RESOURCES (BL-HR-IUBLA) Department Information Indiana University (IU) Bloomington Human Resources (HR) manages day-to-day HR operations and drives the implementation of strategic people initiatives for 26 departments, units, and schools across the IU Bloomington campus. As strategic business partners, we provide subject matter leadership and consulting designed to increase workplace productivity and to develop improved processes for attracting, developing, and retaining people with the required skills and aptitude to meet current and future business needs. These roles support a variety of schools, departments, and units, offering the chance to work closely with leaders and employees on key priorities across the employee life cycle, organizational effectiveness, change management, and HR policy and practice. Areas of responsibilities may include employment and selection, classification and compensation, employee relations, and ongoing HR support in assigned unit(s). General Responsibilities Counsels academic and/or staff employees and management on various HR topics and functions; communicates and shares understanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations. Researches, responds to, and addresses various employee relation issues such as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), employee complaints, workers compensation, etc. Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions, in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to academic and/or staff employees and managers. Develops a thorough understanding of the operational strategy and culture for recruitment coordinator, school or department. Contributes and/or manages various academic and/or staff HR activities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment, onboarding, engagement, or performance management. Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant academic and/or HR topics. May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR team or centers of expertise (COE) partners and develops solutions and recommends course of action. May lead small projects or activities. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. EDUCATION Required Bachelor's degree. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Resources. WORK EXPERIENCE Preferred Some experience in human resources or related field. Exposure to enterprise HR systems. Salesforce CRM (HR console) PeopleSoft Talent Acquisition Manager (TAM) or similar applicant tracking systems Hyland OnBase or comparable document and records management systems Experience working with data entry, document handling, or system-based workflows across multiple systems. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Preferred SHRM-CP/PHR within 1 year upon date of hire. SKILLS Required Strong verbal communication and listening skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Excellent collaboration and team building skills. Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents. Proactively approaches responsibilities. Knowledge of human resources policies. Exhibits understanding of Federal and State employment law. Preferred Ability to learn and effectively navigate competing priorities in multiple HR systems and managing system-based workflows. Ability to follow established procedures to ensure data accuracy and compliance in support of the employee life cycle. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
