Position Summary:
The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace in an aluminum manufacturing facility. This role includes monitoring regulatory compliance, conducting safety training, supporting incident investigations, and collaborating with all departments to drive a proactive safety culture while meeting OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training tailored to the aluminum manufacturing environment.
	 - Conduct facility inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
	 - Lead root cause investigations for incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend and track corrective actions.
	 - Coordinate and conduct employee EHS training on hazard communication, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, PPE, emergency response, and other relevant topics.
	 - Monitor air quality, emissions, hazardous waste, and water discharge to ensure adherence to environmental permits and regulations.
	 - Maintain documentation of all safety and environmental activities, including audits, training records, incident reports, and regulatory submissions.
	 - Lead and participate in EHS committee meetings and promote employee engagement in safety programs.
	 - Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials per environmental regulations.
	 - Respond to emergencies, conduct emergency drills, and support the development of emergency preparedness plans.
	 - Stay current with regulatory changes affecting aluminum manufacturing and recommend best practices for compliance and risk reduction.
	 - Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and reporting processes.
	
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
	 - 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment; aluminum industry experience preferred.
	 - In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant state/local EHS regulations.
	 - Experience with environmental monitoring, industrial hygiene, and waste management.
	 - Strong communication, training, and organizational skills.
	 - Ability to lead projects and work collaboratively across teams.
	 - EHS certifications (CSP, ASP, CHMM, etc.) a plus.
