Summary:
The Clinical Placement Specialist supports the Teacher Education Program (TEP) by coordinating and overseeing clinical placements for student teachers and Teacher Education candidates across Illinois. This role works directly with TEP students and serves as a liaison between the university and school districts, ensuring appropriate placements and fostering strong partnerships with district administrators. The position plays a vital role in strengthening the school's clinical partnerships, student success, and professional preparation standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Teacher Education (TEP) lead and clinical personnel and instructs incoming clinical students and student teachers on policies and procedures of field placement within school districts for the Teacher Education Program.
  • Build and maintain relationships with TEP students, school district personnel, and administration throughout the state of Illinois and assess appropriate placement of student teachers
  • Monitor student teachers clinical progress with evaluations.
  • Process and maintain all necessary documentation related to student placements and field experiences.
  • Collect and monitor preclinical and clinical documentation and licensure requirements.
  • Participate in support meetings and visits to clinical settings when additional support and feedback are necessary.
  • Supervise University Supervisors of Student Teachers.
  • Work with clinical faculty to oversee and develop online and face-to-face Orientation for field placements and Student Teaching.
  • Maintain, edit, and update the Field Placement and Student Teaching Handbooks.
  • Recruit, screen, make hiring recommendations, and/or train cooperating teachers in PK-12 settings and University Supervisors.
  • Work with the College of Public Affairs & Education Deans Office to ensure affiliation agreements are current and reflect University policy.
  • Oversee student teacher applications and field experience processes.
  • Participate in TEP and Department meetings and initiatives.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Masters degree
    Teaching licensure
    Qualtrics or similar data collection experience
    3-5 years of experience in project coordination in a PK-12 setting
    Exceptional public relations and communication skills
    Exceptional organization skills
    Ability to solve complex problems

    Preferred Qualifications:

    School Administrator licensure
    Possess an understanding/skill in online teaching and learning
