The HR Division (Total Rewards Section) of the NC Department of Revenue is seeking a problem solver with a passion for providing superior customer service to fill the role of Senior HR Assistant. Being eager to learn new processes and possessing top-notch organizational skills are assets of viable candidates for this role.

Reports to headquarters located at 501 N. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27604 a minimum of three days per week.

The Senior HR Assistant provides advanced administrative support to departmental leadership and staff. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion, confidentiality and the ability to manage a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Administrative Assistant ensures efficient office operations and supports workflow processes across various administrative functions.

Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, track, and organize documentation within ServiceNow, OneDrive, and departmental logs.
  • Process offer letters, orientation packets, and new hire documentation.
  • Coordinate fingerprinting, background checks, and parking assignments for new hires and employees.
  • Maintain and update HR logs, spreadsheets, and personnel files.
  • Prepare, revise, and distribute employee letters, onboarding emails, and HR communications.
  • Assist with scheduling, meeting coordination, and departmental correspondence.
  • Support payroll, expense reporting, invoice processing, and purchasing tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, confidentiality standards, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee inquiries and provide customer service support.
  • Assist with retirement certificates, HR separation processes, and annual administrative tasks.

This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of a State Teleworking Program. Any telework will be under the conditions of the State Teleworking Program Policy, and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time at the employer's sole discretion.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive)
  • Experience working with HR systems including ServiceNow and NCFS.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities within set deadlines utilizing a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Experience in Human Resources or government administration preferred.
  • Customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.

Recruitment Range: $41,206 - $64,386

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Minimum Education and Experience
