Position Summary:
Leeco Steel is a leading supplier of carbon, HSLA and alloy steels from the premier mills worldwide. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Safety Manager will oversee safety-related tasks at all of Leeco Steel's facilities across North America. This role works closely with many teams to ensure compliance, promote a strong safety culture and drive risk reduction initiatives. This position requires 30-50% travel and regular in-person attendance at a Leeco office or facility when not traveling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and ongoing improvement of EHS programs, policies and procedures across all Leeco Steel locations
- Conduct and support EHS audits, inspections and compliance evaluations
- Partner with teams to identify hazards, assess risk and implment effective safety controls
- Lead incident investigations (including near misses) and root cause analysis; ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained
- Support regulatory compliance efforts, including OSHA and environmental requirements, reporting, and documentation
- Maintain required EHS documentation and records in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics; support development of KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with HR and leadership on workers’ compensation claims, injury management, and return-to-work programs
- Support and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels
- Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees and reinforcing safe work practices
- Assist with emergency preparedness, drills, and compliance activities across facilities
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies as needed to support compliance and safety initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable safety and environmental regulations
- Experience supporting EHS programs within a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to conduct audits, investigations, and risk assessments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Education, Experience & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field required
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM or similar preferred
- OSHA 30-hour certification required; OSHA 500 and other advanced certifications are a plus
- First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain) preferred
- 5-8+ years of experience in environmental health and safety, preferably in manufacturing
- Experience with workers' compensation processes and injury management
- Experience supporting regulatory audits, reporting and compliance activities
