Performs a variety of professional and analytical work related the administration of Human Resources and management programs. This position has a primary focus managing workers compensation claims and in accordance with Washington State Department of Labor and Industries requirements. Supporting staff with on-the-job injuries while providing a high level of customer service. The successful candidate will be organized with paperwork and attention to detail; possess outstanding customer service skills; respond to inquiries in an accurate and timely manner; and has the ability to use multiple systems in a high-volume work environment. Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule during peak seasons. This position will also provide support to the Employee & Labor Relations team and work closely with the Human Resources Administrators.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities may include but not are not limited to the following:
- Serves as a primary point of contact for workers compensation claims.
- Maintain workers' compensation files and records for the purpose of documenting actions and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, district rules, and legal requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service; proven ability to listen attentively with patience, recognize and identify issues.
- Prepares and maintains confidential records.
- Communicate with self-insured service company, injured worker, supervisor, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC), Nurse Case Manager (NCM), and physicians on claim management. Confirm status of claims by verifying information for payroll, human resources, and supervisor.
- Assist in resolving claims in a timely manner. Work collaboratively to develop a light-duty and modified return-to-work program for injured workers. Coordinate with third party administrator to provide appropriate services and monitor costs.
- Identify claim patterns. Prepare claim and expense breakdown reports for actuarial study.
- Responsible for verifying invoices prior to billing from third party administrator and authorizing information for billing.
- Initiate communication with employees around the ADA process and complete ADA interactive dialogue processes and any needed accommodations.
- Assist in new employee safety orientations, safety training and related employee training.
- Provide support to labor relations team to include assisting in preparation of employee meetings with an emphasis of employee investigations.

- High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Two years of successful experience in human resources or equivalent desired.
- Four or more years of K-12 Public Education experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Washington State's industrial insurance system, rules and regulations preferred.
- Initiative and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and work independently.
- Knowledge of basic medical terms and technology desired.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple requests simultaneously in a timely manner.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of staff and public in a confidential manner.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
- Mathematical ability to perform compensation calculations.
- Computer skills required, including Excel.
Physical/Mental/Motor Demands:
While performing duties of this position, the employee experiences frequent sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Hearing and speech to communicate in person, via video conference and computers, or over the telephone. Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time. Vision: Frequent near acuity, occasional far acuity, and color vision. Vision to read printed and online materials, computer screens, or other monitoring devices. Strength is generally sedentary/light - exert force up to 20 lbs., occasionally; 10 lbs. frequently; negligible force, constantly.
Work Environment
Climate-controlled office setting with temperatures ranging from mild to moderate cold/heat. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for occasional to frequent time periods.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee often performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communication.
