HR Generalist Workers Compensation & Safety

POSITION SUMMARY

The HR Generalist Workers Compensation & Safety supports the administration of workers compensation claims, workplace safety initiatives, client communication, and related HR functions. This position is ideal for an HR professional looking to expand their knowledge of workers compensation, safety, and compliance in a PEO environment. Training and support will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the first point of contact for new workplace injury reports.
  • Complete and process all work-related injury and incident reports.
  • Determine liability of workers compensation claims.
  • Investigate individual claims for legality and ensure that all legal and procedural requirements are met for processing of the claim in order to ensure timely payments to employees and medical facilities.
  • Coordinate and participate in strategic planning aimed at reducing the incidence of workers compensation related injuries.
  • Communicate timely and efficiently with client on details of the injury, including periodic updates.
  • Track and maintain claims.
  • Assemble appropriate medical information and facts regarding claims for pending cases to insurance provider.
  • Complete monthly reporting for payments to workers compensation carrier.
  • Timely and accurate billing of clients for workers compensation claims.
  • Audit workers compensation class codes for accurate description of position and client services.
  • Audit HRIS for accurate class codes.
  • Request and update Certificates of Insurance for clients as needed and for annual renewal.
  • Review, audit, and execute annual renewals of workers compensation policies.
  • Work with Client Implementation to implement new workers compensation policies for new clients.
  • Provide annual safety trainings to clients that applies to their general profession including ergonomics for offices and as required by law
  • Research and evaluate training requirements and certifications needed for individual clients and their employees job positions.
  • Schedule and maintain all necessary annual trainings for clients.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Customized reports provided upon request
  • Monitor safety procedures in the work environment
  • Research and Resolve issues as required
  • Other projects as assigned

MISCELLANEOUS

  • With team, present recommendations and assist in implementing quality initiatives.
  • Provide support on any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3 years of experience in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, Workers' Compensation, Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • PEO experience is a plus but not required.
  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
  • Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, analyze information, and resolve routine issues using sound judgment.

WORK ARRANGEMENT

  • This is a hybrid position based in Honolulu, Hawaii.
  • Candidates must reside on Oahu and be available to work from our office as needed.
  • Occasional local travel to client locations may be required.
