The Student Employment Coordinator administers all human resources processes related to student employment, providing full lifecycle support across the university while partnering with departments and hiring managers to hire and support student employees. This role serves as a central resource for student employment by understanding workforce needs, guiding recruitment and HR processes, and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. In addition, the Coordinator performs key administrative functions such as maintaining records, coordinating processes, communicating policies, and serving as the primary point of contact to support a consistent, high-quality experience for both hiring managers and student employees.
Key Job Responsibilities:- Serves as a point of contact to employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders. Responds to inquiries and escalates more complex issues to the appropriate authorities
- Provides frontline coordination and operational support for student employees and hiring managers. Answers questions, helps them navigate student employment processes, and resolves issues or escalates more complex issues to the right person
- Helps ensure a smooth and positive experience for both managers and student employees through consistent collaboration and communication
- Audits and tracks compliance for various HR functions such as onboarding, off boarding, criminal background checks, and credentialing
- Tracks required steps like onboarding, background checks, and employment eligibility to ensure everything is complete, accurate, and compliant with policies and regulations
- Creates and maintains various HR specific reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations
- Keeps student employment records accurate and up to date, understands different student job requirements across departments, and runs reports to support compliance and decision-making
- Enters, reviews, and processes HR transactions according to established policies and procedures
- Processes a high volume of student employment hiring, job changes, and other HR actions in the system, making sure everything follows university policies and employment rules
- Manages the dissemination of HR related communications to various audiences under the direction of leadership
- Communicates HR processes, student employment policies, and procedural updates to hiring managers and campus partners, including delivery of training when needed
Human Resources
Compensation:Starting at $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
Required Qualifications:- Past work experience in Human Resources or related field
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Power Point)
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong customer service skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with various groups and individuals
- Ability to maintain discretion and the highest ethical and professional standards while dealing with confidential information
- Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-oriented environment with quickly shifting priorities
- Strong initiative and ability to remain adaptable to different situations and changes
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field
- Experience utilizing an HR software, preferably Workday
- Previous work experience in a college or university setting
Education:- Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field
