Charles Taylor Safety Solutions is seeking an EHS Manager in Columbus, OH.

Contract-to-hire role.

Project details:

  • 50-60 hours week (M-SAT)
  • contract-to-hire role.
  • Working on-site with our client overseeing mechanical/HVAC/plumbing/fireprotection fabrication. Knowledge of welding safety, confined space, or hazardous material handling is preferred.

Certification/ Education Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience as Safety or EHS Manager in fabrication, manufacturing, or general industry.
  • Proven OSHA compliance and audit management track record.
  • Demonstrated ability to build safety buy-in in fast-paced industrial settings

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in mechanical/HVAC/plumbing/fireprotection fabrication
  • ISO9001 internal auditor or EHS experience
  • Knowledge of welding safety, confined space, or hazardous material handling
  • Professional EHS certification such as OSHA 501 and OSHA-511
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required.
  • BCSP certifications are preferred but not required.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee safety, environmental, and health compliance per OSHA, EPA, and state regulations.
  • Updating and maintaining site-specific safety manuals, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and Environmental permits/SWPPPs.
  • Conduct incident investigations and rootcause analysis. Implement corrective actions.
  • Lead the process of Near Miss investigation and improvement.
  • Lead periodic audits and inspections-fabrication floor, welding stations, storage areas, loading docks-driving near-miss reporting and corrective follow-through.
  • Build an environment of hazard recognition with a boots on the ground approach in the shop daily.
  • Develop EHS training as needed specific to our operations: PPE, welding safety, ergonomic best practices, forklift & rigging safety, hazard communication, confined space, hot work, respiratory protection, etc.
  • Provide safety talks, assist with facility specific new-hire orientations, and remediation coaching.
  • Partner with fabrication, quality, and engineering teams to assess layout, process flow, and equipment ergonomics to minimize on-site hazards.
  • Support EHS aspects of major prefabrication projects-e.g., full mechanical rooms in controlled shop environments to reduce field risk
