About the role:Are you ready to be part of a transformative journey in our People Culture & Experience department? Due to an upcoming leave, we are looking for an experienced, passionate and strategic Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our vibrant and diverse team!
Under the direct guidance of the Manager of Employee and Labour Relations, you will be an essential ally in shaping a culture of inclusion and belonging, while supporting a diverse set of clients in a fast-paced acute care environment. As the HRBP, your strategic insights will be invaluable as you empower managers with expert guidance on policies and procedures, and address employee concerns with empathy and professionalism.
You'll leverage your extensive knowledge in Human Resources and Labour Relations to navigate complex challenges, acting as a trusted resource and advocate within our organization.
With the recent launch of our new HR system (Workday), were seeking innovative and critical thinkers who are ready to help us elevate our HR business partnerships to new heights.

What You'll be Doing:
- Expert Guidance : provide coaching on a variety of HR topics, including labor regulations, performance management, conflict resolution, and more, ensuring our managers have the support they need.
- Strategic Support : Develop a deep understanding of our business operations to deliver tailored HR strategies that meet the unique needs of your client groups.
- Engagement Initiatives : Lead employee engagement efforts and facilitate action planning sessions to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Workplace Investigations : Take the lead on both simple and complex investigations, ensuring fair and thorough processes.
- Collective Agreements : Collaborate with leadership and the Labour Relations team to interpret and navigate Collective Agreements, fostering positive relationships with Union partners.
- Grievance and Arbitration Support : Assist with grievance processes and actively participate in Labor Management Committees, advocating for fair resolutions.
- Risk Analysis : Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations that align with our values and strategic goals.
- Occupational Health and Safety : Support complex return-to-work and accommodation cases, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all employees.
- Mentorship : Mentor and coach junior team members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow.
What You'll Bring:
- Successful completion of a Baccalaureate degree preferably in Human Resources or a related field from an accredited educational institution and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on HR consulting experience in a complex unionized environment, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a knack for engaging presentations.
- A strong sense of business acumen and the ability to navigate organizational dynamics effectively.
- Resilience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 work environment.
- Familiarity with unions such as ONA, SEIU, and OPSEU is desirable.
- Proven experience in employee/labour relations and conducting workplace investigations.
- A demonstrated understanding of employment legislation, including the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
- Strong data analysis skills to provide valuable insights to management.
- The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with leaders and union partners. - Proficiency in office applications and HRIS systems.
- A collaborative leadership style that builds trust and strong partnerships across disciplines with a strong focus on creating and sustaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all.
