Position Summary Information Responsibilities:
Provide customer service regarding benefit and retirement plan offerings, eligibility, deadlines, and processes. Provide tier-one support to routine and non-routine inquiries.
- Provide professional, collegial, and dialogue to create effective solutions in a timely manner; May escalate complex issues to supervisor or subject matter expert teams.
- Respond to inquiries timely; Maintain documentation and process service tickets to ensure accurate tracking of issues and resolutions
- Use of good judgement, excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, research of information, and continual independent learning of benefit and retirement plans, knowledge of HIPPA , and Delta State University policies is essential to ensure and maintain professional knowledge and provide sound, credible advice.
Provide customer service and problem-solving regarding human resource policies and programs. Provide tier-one support to routine and non-routine inquiries. May escalate complex issues to Director. Topics may include but are not limited to:
- Paycheck questions
- Educational Assistance and Tuition Reimbursement
- Training and Development programs including required compliance and regulatory training
- Absence and leave benefits including vacation, major medical, FMLA , personal leave, etc.
Support administrative processing, ensuring information is accurate and provided in a timely manner. Knowledge of policies, research of information, data verification, identification of discrepancies and solutions, and interaction with customers, other departments, and vendors is essential.
- Benefit enrollment and benefit change elections
- Benefit and retirement plan enrollment status changes including new dependents, deceased members, and beneficiary designations
- Coordinates with a variety of internal stakeholders (e.g., department managers, employment, benefits, and finance/payroll) to hire, change employee, student worker, and/or contingent worker records.
- Prioritizes and updates employee records aligned with deadlines.
- Audits employee records to identify data variances (e.g., inactive records) and updates as needed.
- Evaluates information requests and prepares data in response to wage and employment verifications, public records requests and subpoenas, workers compensation claims, fee waivers, Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( PSLF ), dependent tuition reimbursement, and other programs.
- Educational Assistance and Tuition Reduction forms
- Employment and income verification letters
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging Delta State Human Resources policies and practices.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of Delta State University.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in human resources, organizational behavioral sciences or related field AND one year of experience providing HR support OR equivalent combination of education and HR experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources office practices and procedures, State and Federal rules and laws and provisions of negotiated agreements
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in human resources, organizational behavioral sciences or related field
- Human Resources experience in a higher education or government setting
- Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems ( BANNER )
- Experience recruiting and utilizing an online Applicant Tracking System ( ATS )
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Salary:
Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and universitys resources.
