Ohio University is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven professional to serve as an Assistant Director of Recruitment within an assigned academic unit on behalf of Undergraduate Admissions. Reporting to the Director of Outreach and Recruitment and based in the college student services area, this role collaborates closely with academic, admissions, and enrollment marketing colleagues to develop and deliver recruitment strategies that connect prospective students with meaningful academic pathways. Through a blend of data-informed strategy, personalized engagement, and strong campus partnerships, this position plays a key role in shaping enrollment outcomes.
As a recruitment leader for the College, the Assistant Director designs and delivers high impact experiences for prospective students and families from individualized outreach to large scale visit programs and signature events. Working collaboratively with faculty, student services, admissions and marketing colleagues, this role translates academic strengths into compelling student-centered messaging. This position leverages recruitment and enrollment data to continuously refine strategies, contribute to marketing and outreach efforts, and help drive results.

Position Profile:
Recruits, evaluates, and participates in the selection of candidates for University admission. Coordinates with all internal departments, external organizations, and individuals involved in the admissions process. Advises applicants and parents about educational planning. Ensures the effective and compliant processing of student applications.
Level Summary:
Manages and resolves complex and ambiguous issues. Works on both strategic and operational challenges, addressing problems that require advanced knowledge and experience. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
May have budgetary responsibility for small-scale projects or initiatives.
Problem Solving:
Solves complex problems, often with limited guidance.
Independence of Action:
Works independently; seeks guidance for unusual situations.
Communication and Collaboration:
Collaborates with team members and external departments. May represent the team in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Significant travel, including some overnights and weekends, within assigned territory is required. Travel to Ohio University for training, on-campus events, and collaboration with admissions staff and university colleagues is also expected. Must be able to travel independently.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelors degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in college admissions, academic advising in higher education, college student personnel, or counseling or teaching in secondary schools; demonstrated interpersonal and written communication and public speaking skills. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively. Data analysis experience.
The incumbent is able to represent the University in a professional and positive manner and abide by the National Association for College Admission Counselings Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission.
Ability to travel independently including overnight and internationally. Ability to pass background checks, university judiciary review, and regular driving history audits.
