Position: Benefits Specialist
Location: Administration Office
Status: Full Time (Non-Exempt)
Details: The Benefits Specialist for the district is responsible for the administration of all employee benefits in the district including medical, RX, dental, vision, and ancillary offering such as HSA, FSA, 403b, Life and Disability Insurance. The benefits specialist serves as the primary contact and is responsible for ensure eligiblity, enrollment, life event changes, and the accuracy of all enrollments and contributions with over seven different insurance carriers.
- Processes all employee benefit life event changes (birth of a child, marriage, divorce, etc.) in both our carrier portals and in our HR/Payroll (Skyward) system; communicates all changes to Payroll.
- Responds to employee benefit questions for both current and new staff members.
- Processes all age out dependent changes in our HR/Payroll (Skyward) system and all five carrier portals
- Serves as point of contact for employees during the open enrollment period.
- Manages paperwork collection for enrollment changes during open enrollment.
- Ensures that all open enrollment changes are communicated to insurance carriers in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with payroll to ensure that all employee elections and deductions are properly reflected after the completion of life events.
- Completes requests for benefit enrollment verification.
- Processes COBRA enrollments and terminations.
- Processes COBRA paperwork for employees at the end of an assignment and when requested for age out event.
- Ensure that all newly hired employees are entered into our benefits portals and receive coverage promptly by our carriers.
- Ensures that all data in our carrier portals (IBX, ESI, etc.) is current/accurate and matches the data contained within Skyward.
- Completes all employee healthcare billing reconciliations. Check all billing to ensure accuracy, eligibility, etc.
- Provides assistance during Affordable Care Act 1095-C form preparation.
- Serves as the first point of contact for all Employee Leave of Absence requests. Ensures that staff are fully informed of their available options, collects all necessary paperwork, and partners with HR team to ensure that their status and pay are accurately reflected in Skyward.
Qualifications: Strong technology skills, demonstrated experience using a HRIS system such as Skyward, intermediate to advance Excel skills, the ability to accurately and effectively multi-task and manage deadlines. Experience performing analysis and data comparisons in Excel. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and maintain a positive attitude.
