Working as part of the corporate safety & operational excellence team and integrated with our existing operations and maintenance groups, the Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of programs in support of Keyeras health and safety and operational excellence management systems.
The Health & Safety Coordinator will be a developmental role responsible for partnering with and supporting the operations and maintenance functions using a coach, mentor and assist work philosophy at Keyeras Fort Saskatchewan North facility. The role is an integral part of our business, contributing to our daily success.
Responsibilities
Provide visible safety leadership at the Keyera Fort Sask North facility.
Learn and advise on regulatory compliance requirements related to health and safety.
Learn and advise on Keyeras health and safety programs and requirements for implementation by operations and maintenance teams.
Participate in HAZOPs, PHAs, inspections, audits, gap closure and other hazard/risk assessment and conformance activities.
Support incident investigations and injury management processes when required.
Complete and facilitate worksite and task inspections.
Contribute to the development, rollout and field implementation of initiatives, goals, programs, and systems.
Complete and/or support H&S deliverables for operations, maintenance projects and facility turnarounds.
Actively monitor ISNetworld and participate in contractor health and safety qualification, selection, and performance management.
Support the delivery of safety meetings and emergency response activities.
Monitor safety performance, identify trends, and prepare safety performance reports and focus areas for improvement.
Participate in facility committees where applicable.
Qualifications
Minimum of one to two (12) years of oil and gas, operations, maintenance, and health & safety experience or H&S new grad.
Minimum NCSO, OHS diploma or certificate, or actively working to obtain.
Working knowledge of operational safety processes such as HAZOPs, PSSRs, PHAs an asset.
Experience and understanding of core operational H&S needs such as permit to work, managing control of hazardous energy/energy isolation, gas detection, industrial hygiene, process safety, and confined space entry an asset.
Understanding of turnaround maintenance activities an asset.
Experience with investigation techniques and methodologies such as TapRoot, 5-Why and cause mapping an asset.
Exceptional organization, verbal, and written communication skills; technical report writing skills are an asset.
Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with safety software/programs an asset: Maximo, Velocity EHS, Power BI, ISNetworld and SharePoint.
Self-motivated team player with a strong commitment to improving health and safety performance.
Role requires periodic travel to Keyera office locations.
A valid drivers license and ability to provide a 5-year standard driver abstract (clean drivers abstract).
This role requires the candidate to wear hearing protection while in the operating facility and may require the candidate to wear respiratory protective equipment. As per Alberta OHS 250(2), the candidate must ensure an adequate seal where the face piece of the equipment seals to the skin of the face.
