DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Human Resources Technician is the entry-level classification in the Human Resources series, characterized by the performance of technical clerical support work following established procedures.

It is distinguished from the higher level Human Resources Assistant classification, which performs relatively more complex and independent technical duties involving recruitment planning, examination development, salary schedule administration, and policy interpretation.

This classification is distinguished from general lower level clerical support classifications in that incumbents apply specialized knowledge of human resources procedures, regulations, and systems rather than performing routine tasks such as data entry, filing, and general office support.
