POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of all personnel-related matters for the organization's team members. This includes recruitment and retention, employment eligibility, orientation, team member relations, training and development, EEOC compliance, affirmative action, workers' compensation, personnel records, terminations, and exit interviews. This role also provides an explanation of benefits and compensation as approved by management or the Campus Director when applicable.

The Human Resources Director works under the direction of the Campus Director and exercises initiative, sound judgment, and a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct new team member orientation
  • Complete required government reports, including OSHA forms 300 and 301, and documentation related to unemployment compensation claims
  • Respond to audits and charges from compliance agencies such as the EEOC
  • Supervise the maintenance of team member benefit plans
  • Maintain and update team member personnel files in a highly confidential manner
  • Compile reports, including turnover data and other human resources reporting
  • Stay informed on trends, laws, and regulations affecting the human resources field
  • Counsel management staff on recommended communication, documentation, and team member guidance while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Participate in task force committees and team member-related initiatives
  • Coordinate and help lead team member morale-building activities, exercises, and training
  • Assist in developing and administering the Human Resources operating budget and monitor expenditures
  • Answer team member questions related to benefits, human resources matters, and team member relations
  • Conduct benefit meetings to explain plan changes and enrollment options
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations governing benefit plans, including ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA
  • Confer with and assist supervisors in personnel matters, including placement issues, retention, probationary releases, transfers, demotions, and dismissals
  • Prepare internal job postings and external employment advertisements
  • Ensure proper pre-employment procedures are completed for all new team members
  • Develop and maintain retention strategies and incentive programs
  • Evaluate employment trends and compensation changes in the marketplace and provide recommendations to the Campus Director
  • Enforce all HR policies
  • Continue professional growth through training, workshops, meetings, and current literature
  • Investigate harassment claims while keeping the Campus Director informed and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
  • Ensure salary adjustments are justified and properly approved
  • Gather team member feedback through surveys, focus groups, and individual meetings, then follow up with an appropriate plan of action
  • Promote collaboration among staff and management to support strong communication, problem-solving, and a cooperative work environment
  • Represent Baptist Village in a professional manner consistent with the mission of Baptist Village Communities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • PHR certification preferred
  • Three to five years of equivalent experience as a Human Resources generalist
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Considerable knowledge of human resource management principles and practices, with emphasis on state and federal laws affecting employment, wage and hour matters, and benefits
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
