This temporary position is located at 309 Colombo St. SW, Suite 102, Valdese - Burke County, with the Department of Adult Correction.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.16 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This position is located at the Western Foothills Regional Employment Office (WFREO) in Valdese, NC (Burke County).
Travel is required as necessary for training, meetings, and investigation process.
Must be eligible for certification as a DCI operator in order to conduct criminal background checks.
This position serves a critical role in the Adult Correction (AC) hiring process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving applications for certified positions within Adult Corrections assigned to the WFREO service area.
- Conducts a thorough review of applicant information, screening each applicant to ensure that they meet minimum standards for the position.
- Records may be requested/reviewed as applicable to ensure that the applicant is eligible for employment as well as certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- This position advances the applicant through the steps in Workday, enters the applicant record into ATS, and places them on the referral lists for prison facilities.
- This position requires thorough knowledge and understanding of Criminal Justice and DAC policies/standards. Position will be trained to run fingerprints for NCSBI and Rapback. Requires the ability to run, read, and interpret a thorough DCI criminal background check.
- Position assigns and proctors pre-employment testing and contacts medical vendors as needed.
- Consults with managers and subject matter experts on complex issues and responds to a wide variety of questions from applicants and work location managers.
- Maintains applicant hiring records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other internal databases.
- Position is responsible for high volume work and the ability to meet deadlines to ensure critical vacancies are filled in a timely manner.
Minimum Education and Experience

Associate's degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
