Job Description

Summary:

The individual occupying this position manages human resources for a specific geography within the Kaman Automation or Fluid Power platform. The Senior HR Generalist is a partner to leaders within the team.  This leader provides insight and visibility to risk to ensure exceptional operational performance, thoughtful decision making, and high employee engagement. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the human resource functions, including headcount management, promotions, demotion, transfers, wage and salary changes, talent and performance management.
  2. Partners with the platform recruiter to fill roles with talent that is appropriate for the business.  Reviews background screen results, oversees offer processing and position pricing. 
  3. Provides counsel to leaders on performance management, including corrective action and documentation, employee coaching and counseling, performance appraisals, goal setting and terminations, conducting difficult conversations, and employee development.   
  4. Provides guidance on policies and procedures.
  5. Provides training on employment, compliance, and leadership topics.
  6. Coaches leaders to support goals and objectives.             
  7. Maintains up to date knowledge on all state and Federal laws and implements policy accordingly.
  8. Ensures effective communication, including the use of technology, coaching business leaders on messaging, and providing helpful, compliant written materials.
  9. Maintains human resources systems and functional HR administration.
  10. Shares best practices across the organization and the HR function.  
  11. Ensures operations are conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct and applicable law and regulations; take lead role in corrective action necessary to restore conformity with ethical and compliance standards; serve as role model and actively foster employee awareness of and commitment to Kaman values.

 

Qualifications:
 
Education – BA/BS degree required.  Prefer degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline.    
 
Experience :

  • At least 5+ years as a Generalist in a distribution, manufacturing or industrial setting.  Specific experience in Fluid Power or Automation is preferred.
  • Specific experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting with sales (internal and external), distribution and logistics and engineering types of roles highly desired.
  • Experience working in a multi-site capacity and functioning as a field HR resource highly desired.
  • Proven knowledge of general Human Resources policies, programs, practices and procedure related to recruitment, compensation, workforce planning, benefits, employee engagement, and EEO/AAP.
  • Experience developing and delivering training curriculum and content.   This includes facilitating new manager assimilation sessions and leadership training.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading and managing employee relations activities, inclusive of investigations and corrective action.    
  • Strong experience as a business partner with demonstrated examples of providing leadership coaching and development.
  • Demonstrated experience leading change.
  • Lean Sigma or other continuous improvement methodology experience desired.

Other:   Valid driver’s license required. Travel up to 15 %. 
 
Physical Requirements:   Read computer monitor and written documentation.  Communicate information to others. Require bending, standing and reaching. Sit for long periods of time.  May lift and or move at least 15 pounds.
