Summary

For the Director of Global Talent Management and Learning, leveraging Carhartt’s talent is a passion. The person in this position gets that Carhartt’s competitive advantage is people. As the Director of Global TM and Learning, globally addressing the talent needs to support the strategy and vision is a priority – one faced with enthusiasm and energy. The person in this role has clarity around the company strategy and is able to translate it into actionable ideas in partnership with HR Leadership and other leaders throughout the company ensuring it comes to life in the form of programs and practices tailored to the needs of the business and culture.

Responsibilities

Learning:

  • Oversees global learning by working with the learning team, HR leadership, and leaders throughout the company to develop a vision, programs, systems to assist in building our associates’ skills and capabilities to ensure we have a high performing workforce and culture.
  • Leverages multiple learning approaches and is able to align the right approach to the right audience.

Talent Management:

  • Owns the vision for talent management along with the development and linkage of talent management related processes such as succession, hi-po pipeline, performance management, engagement, workforce planning and talent strategies.
  • Oversees the development of vision for org design, change management and org agility – bringing theory that can be turned into realistic executable activities.
  • Ensures communication related to learning and talent management is strategic, engaging and thorough.

Leadership:

  • Directs and leads a passionate and talented team of global learning and talent management professionals, relying on team’s ability to solve problems, come up with solutions and support a high performance work environment.
  • Emphasizes the importance of team within HR and within the business, coaches and develops associates, inspires others to bring their best to work each day.

General:

  • Connects with leadership throughout the organization and works in collaboration with the HR Operations team and others in HR to collectively understand business needs and holistically address the needs with the appropriate learning, communication and talent management strategies and interventions.
  • Develops plans and executes learning and talent management processes based on overall talent strategy.
  • Drives organizational performance through a highly engaged workforce - tailoring training needs while staying true to learning principles and enhancing our culture, able to connect the dots across the organization, explore implications, challenge the status quo and execute with excellence. Is an advocate of, visionary to, and driver of system enhancements for the learning management program. 
  • Responsible for staying current on trends in the world of learning and talent management – bringing better practices along with an applicability to the organization.
  • Participate and lead cross functional projects not just as the person for the people but as a business person who holistically thinks about implications.
  • Emphasizes the importance of leadership development, experiences, career pathing, individual development and team dynamics.
  • Credible, courageous, persuasive communicator and promotes the use of the internal communication processes. Is a coach to coaches, counselor and trusted advisor to leaders throughout the company.
  • Responsible for budget dollars associated with talent management and learning.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Human Resources or Related Field

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the development and execution of talent management and learning strategies.
  • Minimum of 6 years of leadership experience, specifically leading leaders.
  • Multiple years of large scale, companywide project management.
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or CPLP preferred.
